Heavy Vehicle Driver Training
Be trained by the best driver trainers who have had many years experience in driving heavy vehicles. We at Olympic Driving School pride ourselves in providing "Quality Training".
All our heavy vehicles are fitted will a dual brake control.
We train in the following Heavy Vehicles:
LR - Light Rigid
MR - Medium Rigid
HR - Heavy Rigid (Synchromesh or Road Ranger Gearbox)
HC - Heavy Combination (Synchromesh or Road Ranger Gearbox)
Light Rigid Truck
We have a Mitsubuishi Canter with a 5 speed synchromesh gearbox.
Lessons are available on both the Northside and Southside of Brisbane
For this vehicle we recommend 2 - 3 lessons before atempting the practical driving test with Queensland Transport.
One Day Course is also available for this vehcle. The course involves 4 hours of training then a practical driving test is conducted by Queensland Transport at the end of the day.
Requirements for Light Rigid Licence
Medium Rigid Truck
We have a Isuzu truck with a 6 speed synchromesh gearbox.
Lessons are available on both the Northside and Southside of Brisbane
For this vehicle we recommend 3-4 lessons before attempting the practical driving test with Queensland Transport.
One Day Course is also available for this vehicle. This course involves 5 hours of training then a practical test conducted by Queensland Transport at the end of the day.
Requirements for Medium Rigid Licence:
Heavy Rigid Truck
Iveco Powerstar with 13 Speed Road Ranger Gearbox
This vehicle will give you the open unrestricted licence to drive all rigid vehicles, buses and prime movers.
This vehicle is available on both the Northside and Southside of Brisbane
For this vehicle we recommend between 6 - 8 lessons before atempting the Practical Driving Test with Queensland Transport.
Volvo NH Series with Synchromesh Gearbox
This vehicle will give you a restricted licence to drive rigid vehicles fitted with synchromesh or automatic gearboxes
This vehicle is available on the Northside of Brisbane, but with arrangements can service the Southside of Bribane as well.
For this vehicle we recommend between 4 - 5 lessons before atempting the Practical Driving Test with Queensland Transport.
Licence Requirements for Heavy Rigid Licence:
- Held an open or restricted licence for a continuous period of two years or held a LR, MR licence for a continuous period of 12 months in the last 5 years.
- Pass a heavy vehicle written test with Queensland Transport https://www.service.transport.qld.gov.au/rrtexternal/SelectExam.jsp
- Pay a Test Booking Fee to Queensland Transport
- Pass a Queensland Transport Practical Driving Test
Heavy Combination Truck
Iveco Powerstar with 13 Speed Road Ranger
This vehicle will give you the open unrestricted licence to drive all rigid and combination vehicles.
This vehicle is available on the Northside and Southside of Brisbane.
Volvo NH Series with Synchromesh Gearbox
This vehicle will give you the restricted licence to drive all rigid combination vehicles, unless you have an open unrestricted licence then you will retai n your open unrestricted licence.
This vehicle is availabel on the Northside of Brisbane, but can be made available on the Southside under arrangements.
Licence Requirements for Heavy Combination Vehicle:
- Hold an open or provisional medium rigid or heavy rigid licence for a continous period of 12 months
- Pay a Test Booking Fee to Queensland Transport
- Pass a Queensland Transport Practical Driving Test
